Liturgy of the Word with Children
During the 9:00am Mass, children in grades K-3 are invited to gather together after the opening prayer to hear the readings at their level. Together, with a Catechist, they discuss the Word of God, rejoining the community during the Profession of Faith.
Liturgy of the Word with Children serves those in Kindergarten through 3rd grade who have not yet received their First Holy Communion. It takes place most Sundays during the 9:00am Mass September through May. This special time is an amazing opportunity to engage young hearts and minds during Mass as the children are invited to hear God’s Word and participate in the Liturgy in a way they can more easily understand.
No fee is required, however for the safety and well-being of each child, we ask that parents register their child. Parents are always invited to attend with their children or volunteer as a Catechist or Aide.
Volunteering
Are you looking for a rewarding way to share your faith with the children of our parish?
Liturgy of the Word with Children occurs during the 9:00 am Mass and is designed for children in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade who have not yet received their First Holy Communion. Volunteer Catechists and Aides are needed to lead the children through the Readings and prayers. Many times it is the volunteers who find their faith strengthened or renewed from this ministry as the children bring enthusiasm and joyful insight into the Word of God.
Volunteer Catechists and Aides are able to set their own schedule, selecting the Sundays they are available. On average, the commitment requires one Sunday a month.
