Lifting of Dispensation & Daily Mass Changes

06-08-2021Weekly Flocknote MessageFr. James Aboyi, V.C.

Welcome to the last month of our fiscal year. The month of June is one of the busiest months for us in the parish office as we try to close the books, balance the budget, and plan for another fiscal year. This is also a time for exchange of “relay batons” in the parish councils.

I thank the outgoing president of the Parish Pastoral Council, Jay Iole, for his outstanding leadership through the most challenging year in the history of our parish. Jay will remain on the Council for one more year as an ex-officio member. My appreciation to Eamonn Ahearne and Lisa Low for completing their terms of membership in the Council. Thanks also to Matt Matazzoni for completing his term of membership on the Parish Finance Council. I am glad we will continue to enjoy their support and services in the other ministries they are involved in the parish.

Congratulations to Frank Polimene who was elected as the new President of the Pastoral Council. Frank will be leading the Council through another challenging, but historical, year in our parish as we look forward to the end of the pandemic and the building of our permanent Church. Congratulations, also, to Lani Gore and Pam Boggs who were elected to the Parish Pastoral Council this week. I also congratulate Brian Wiscombe for accepting my invitation to join the Parish Finance Council. All the new Council members will be commissioned in the Fall.

Returning the Daily Mass Back to the Church

I am sorry to inform you that we are moving our daily morning Mass from the SJB Chapel back to the Church effective this week. This is due to some unforeseen circumstances we encountered during the week. The current average Mass attendance of 20 parishioners per daily Mass is a little too crowded in the SJB Chapel. We also encountered other challenges such as the problem of live-streaming Masses and offering Communion after Mass. This change will take effect on Monday, June 7th. I apologize for the confusion and the inconvenience caused as a result of these changes.
