12-16-2022Church Building Update

The building is taking its final shape and no longer looks like a box. It now has the beginning of the shape that we saw in the original video. We have been blessed to have a great general contractor who has been able to handle the challenges that we have faced.

The block work for the tower has been completed. The scaffolding was lowered Thursday and is being dismantled. All block work is scheduled to be completed in two weeks.

By the end of next week, the first beams for the transept roofing will be put in place.

The new mechanical subcontractor is now onsite. An action plan is being developed on the options that we may have to make up for some of the lost time. Our largest challenge is the long lead times for the large A/C units.

The framers are now onsite, laying out the interior. Soon they will begin the framing of the new interior.

The work for the main drain pipe will begin on Monday. The driveway in front of the Annex building will be restricted during this two week period. We have also received word from the City of Phoenix that they will begin work on 48th Street on Monday. This will restrict traffic for access to our church, St. John Bosco School and Horizon School.

Photos for this week are:

  • A look across the Sanctuary from the north transept to the south transept.
  • The entries on the north-side of the building.
  • The completed block work of the bell tower.
