Deacon Jack will be moving from Arizona to be closer to his family in Chicago. Please join me in thanking Deacon Jack for his commitment, support, and personal sacrifices for our parish community. I pray that God will continue to bless him and his family with good health and protection.

October Devotion

Living here in Arizona, the month of October has become one of my most favorite months of the year, mostly because of the beautiful weather that is neither too hot nor too cold. In the Catholic Church, the month of October is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Month of the Rosary, commonly known as “October Devotion.” There is a very rich history behind the October Devotion. This can be traced back to the origin of the Rosary in 1206. At that time, the Church was in crisis as the result of the influence of Albigensian heresy. It was then that the Blessed Mother introduced the Rosary to St. Dominic in a vision as a powerful weapon to defeat the heresy that plagued the Church. I encourage everyone to make an effort to pray the Rosary every day throughout the month of October. As you pray, please remember to include in your prayer intention a prayer for the success of our Church building project and for an end to the pandemic. I invite you to come join us in our parish Rosary before daily Mass. The Rosary is led by our  Parish Prayer Group at 7:30am (Mon-Fri). You may also consider participating in the Annual Arizona Rosary Celebration on Sunday, October 17, 2021, from 2:00pm to 4:15pm at the Phoenix Convention Center. The event will be led by Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted and Bishop Eduardo Nevares of the Diocese of Phoenix. The guest speaker is Fr. Wilfred Raymond of Holy Cross Family Ministries. Blessing of Pets

October 4th is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, a day when many people traditionally have their pets blessed. We will have the general blessing of pets for all parishioners on Saturday, October 2nd at 9am on the north side of the church. Please hold and stay with your pets. Remember to bring cats and dogs on a leash (or be ready to separate fights!). St. John Bosco School community will observe their symbolic blessing of pets on Monday, October 4th at 2:30pm.

Thank You from the Knights of St. Peter Claver

On behalf of the Knights of St. Peter Claver, I would like to thank you all for the warm reception you gave the group during the visit of their Supreme Knight, Sir James Ellis, last weekend. They enjoyed the Liturgy and were pleased to be in our community. I was honored to be accepted as a member of both the Knights of St. Peter Claver and the Knights of Columbus.

Have a wonderful weekend and remain blessed!

Fr James Aboyi,
VC Pastor
