Welcome to Our New Parishioners

09-07-2021Weekly Flocknote MessageFr. James Aboyi, V.C.

This past weekend, we held a special welcoming event to meet and greet our new parishioners, especially those who joined the parish during the pandemic when we suspended our monthly event. I welcome and thank our new parishioners for choosing to join our lovely St. Benedict parish community. I invited everyone to join us in welcoming our new friends after the 9am and 11 am Masses at the main entrance of the Church. I thank Eamonn and Karen Ahearne, the Pastoral Council, members of the Event Ministry and all those who helped to plan the event.

Commissioning of Parish Pastoral and Finance Council Members

We recognized, thanked, and commissioned our Parish Pastoral and Finance Council members during the 9am and 11am Masses this past weekend. The commissioning of Council members is usually done every two or three years. This is not only to give them a special blessing, but also to give parishioners an opportunity to get to know the Council members in person. I thank each of them for their support and personal sacrifices for our parish community.

Mountain Movers Intercessory Team

In the Psalms, the Lord tells David: “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build it. Unless the Lord keeps the city, he watches in vain that keep it. It is vain for you to rise before light, rise after you have sitten, you that eat the bread of sorrow.” As we embark on the exciting journey of rebuilding, the Lord reminds us that He is the one who builds this church and He is the one who protects it. The Lord simply asks that we “rise after you have sitten” in prayer. Before a shovel enters the ground and a foundation is laid, we are building a Mountain Movers Intercessory Team to cover this whole project in prayer. If you are interested, please email Jennifer Sentz at jsentz@stbenedict.org or see her after daily Mass.
