Wills and Trust Seminar

08-23-2021Weekly Flocknote MessageFr. James Aboyi, V.C.

Are you one of those who have no Will or Trust, or have not updated your plan over several years? Or are you one of those who say to themselves, “Estate planning is not for me because I do not have enough to worry about it?” If so, I invite you to come and join us at the Wills and Trust Seminar to be held here in our St. Benedict Parish this week on Wednesday, August 25th at 6pm, and on Saturday, August 28th at 9am. The seminar will be sponsored by the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF).

This is not a parish fundraising event, but we are partnering with the CCF to help individuals and families in our parish with their estate planning through endowments, donor advised funds, charitable gift annuities and planned giving. Jeff Manley, who is a Catholic estate planning attorney with the CCF, will be here to present information and answer questions for all those who attend. These seminars are free and all those who attend will receive a free consultation with Jeff at a later date. Additionally, with the help of the Catholic Community Foundation and estate planning professionals, updating your Will or Trust at this time will save your family, or other beneficiaries, months or even years of courtroom visits, legal fees, and other stresses. For more information, call 480.651.8800 or go to ccfphx.org. To RSVP, go to ccfphx.org/rsvp and select the St. Benedict session you will be attending.

Memorial Mass for Fr. Bob Binta

Last Friday evening the parish celebrated a Memorial Mass for Fr. Bob. The Knights of Columbus lead a Rosary, and the Mass was celebrated at 7pm in the Church. The Mass was livestreamed on our parish Youtube channel and is available for viewing.

Another Memorial Mass was also held for him in Uganda. Here is the link to the Youtube video of the Mass.

Prayers Needed

I invite you to join the Church in praying for peace and security in Afghanistan. Let us remember to pray especially for the Christians, foreigners, women, and children who are specifically targeted by the Taliban. It is so sad that this humanitarian crisis unfolded on August 15th, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Let us entrust our prayers, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, for the protection of everyone and the restoration of peace in the Middle East. Catholic News Agency Article
