Update on Parish and School Reopening

08-28-2020Weekly Flocknote MessageFr. James Aboyi, V.C.

In the month of June, our Diocese introduced, “Rising with Christ,” which outlines phased guidelines for the full reopening of parish life and Catholic schools. The strategy was to reopen the parishes and schools in three phases. Phase One started in June when Mass attendance was permitted to increase to 25% sitting capacity of the Church along with other necessary precautionary measures. We are still within Phase One of the reopening strategy.

Recently, the Bishop introduced another step of the restoration strategy for parish life and school activities. This new step includes permission for parishes and schools to hold events, with up to 50 people in attendance, beginning on September 8. All other guidelines, including the precautionary measures within Phase One, will remain in place. I am excited that our students will soon be returning back to class in person in September. We are currently working on plans to determine which parish and school events we can hold and how to ensure the safety of everyone.

We thank God for the decline in new cases of the viral infection as we heard in the news recently. We will continue to proceed with prudence and caution along with the Diocese, balancing the needs of the faithful with our great concern for the physical well-being of our parishioners and the wider community.

A Shout Out to Our Parish Media and Communication!

I thank our Music Director, Nick Garza, for his excellent services in managing our parish social media as well as live-streaming our Masses and parish events. I recently confirmed his role as Parish Media and Communication Coordinator, in addition to his primary role as our Music Director. Please contact Nick if you need assistance regarding audio/video recording, live-streaming, and posting of information on our parish social media for your ministry.

On this note, I thank those who participate at Mass through the live-streaming. As of last weekend, 800 of our parishioners have subscribed to our parish YouTube channel so far. I invite you to please subscribe to our parish YouTube Channel here.

if you have not already done so. Our goal is to reach 1000 subscribers by the end of September. It is critical that you subscribe to our channel to help us meet our goal. Reaching 1000 subscribers will qualify us for mobile live-streaming of parish events. It will also give you the opportunity to be notified of new postings of parish events on our YouTube channel.

Three More Days!

It's hard to believe we now have only three more days to the deadline for our Offertory Matching Opportunity. I thank those who have already participated. Our record shows that over 172 families have participated in the Appeal so far as of today. I invite you to join us by setting up your recurring online giving on the secure Faith Direct website, or increase your existing online recurring giving, if you have not already done so. Every gift will be matched, dollar for dollar. I will give you a complete report of our performance next week.
