Weekend Update - June 26

06-26-2020Weekly Flocknote MessageFr. James Aboyi, V.C.

I want to share with you some good news! This year has not been what we expected it to be. I miss being able to have all of you physically present at public Masses and getting to see you and your families like I used. Not having everyone together has been a challenge. But, just as the Lord can surprise us with unexpected challenges, He can also surprise us with good news and much needed help from unexpected sources. And that is what He has done for us! I’m pleased to share that a generous Catholic family from outside our parish has offered to help St. Benedict with a matching gift up to $29,700.

The family wants to encourage families to sign up for recurring online giving. And to achieve that goal, this family is offering to match dollar-for-dollar every new recurring online gift OR increased recurring online gift through Faith Direct by August 31. I couldn’t be more excited or humbled by this generous offer. It’s just what I think the parish needs to help us through this challenge. I’m asking that you all prayerfully discern what you are able to offer as a recurring gift to support our parish family. Please go to membership.faithdirect.net/AZ582 to set up or increase your recurring online giving. For every recurring online gift that is received before August 31, our parish will receive the matching gift, dollar for dollar! Thank you and may God bless you.

Parish Day of Prayer

we would like to observe the feast of St Benedict this year as a Parish Day of Prayer. We will begin the day with Mass at 9 am, followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and ending with Benediction at 12 noon. The Mass and Benediction will be live-streamed on our parish YouTube channel. I encourage those who are not able to attend the event in person to join us online and also to recite a Rosary or offer other prayers. In addition to your personal prayer intentions, we ask everyone to include the following as our community intentions:

  • For healing of the sick, especially those affected by the Coronavirus and for an end to the pandemic.
  • For the safety and protection of our parish staff and volunteers.
  • For the safety and protection of our St. Benedict community and St. John Bosco families.
  • For peace and unity in the country.

If you are praying the Rosary, consider using each of the intentions for each decade of the Rosary.

Mea Culpa!

My profound apologies to you for the audio technical problems we had with the live streaming of our Masses in the past two weeks. We finally figured it out and have resolved the problem. I know how frustrating it is not be physically present at Mass and even more frustrating when you cannot follow the Mass Online because of poor audio. We hope the problem will not reoccur again. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

Everyone have a blessed weekend and stay cool!

Fr. James Aboyi, VC
