Lenten Mission and CDA

03-14-2020Weekly ReflectionFr. James Aboyi

A very big thank you to everyone for a very successful Rummage Sale this weekend. Special thanks to the planning committee, those who donated items and those who participated at the sale. The turnout was very impressive this year. We also received a significantly high number of donated items beyond the capacity of our storage space this year. We are in the process of assessing the total income and expenses from the event. I will report to you when the calculations are completed.

Parish Lenten Mission

I invite everyone to our Annual Parish Lenten Mission/Retreat taking place from Monday the 15th - Wednesday the 18th this week. The mission will be led by Fr. Serge Propst, OP. Fr. Propst belongs to the Western Province of the Dominican Religious Order. He has done some extensive studies in Biology, Philosophy and Theology in the U.S. and Rome. Fr. Propst will be coming with 36 years experience of preaching, retreats and parish missions, 15 years teaching as a professor at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, and 5 years teaching homiletics at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology, Berkeley, CA.

The theme of the Parish Mission this year is: “A Time to Wake Up And Start Living.” The parish mission gives us an opportunity to set aside some quality times from our busy schedules to be with the Lord. Fr. Propst will celebrate Mass and hear Confessions each day of the mission. The retreat is open to everyone and registration is not required. Please check the parish bulletin, website and the program booklets at the entrance of the Church for more information. Remember to invite your friends and family to come along with you as we journey with the Lord through this season of Lent.

Charity and Development Appeal (CDA)

Update I thank the 89 families from our parish community who have participated in the CDA so far. I am excited to inform you that, through your generous giving to the campaign, we have now reached a total gift of $48,345. This represents 41% of our total goal of $85,000. Thank you again for your sacrifice given to support the different ministries and the poor around the Diocese. I remind those who have not yet participated to please pick up a CDA envelope at the Church entrance and send your pledge. No amount is too small or large. Please give us a call in the parish office (480.961.1610) if you have any questions.

Thank you and remain blessed,

Fr. James
